SJEB FC Soccer club, formed in 1997, are excited to announce their Girls division has been accepted into the new and prestigious National Academy League (NAL) - https://www.nationalacademyleague.com/
The NAL will provide a national platform for our non GA teams to play in a club v club platform. As a founding member of the National Academy League Mid-Atlantic Girls Division, our leadership worked diligently with other GA member clubs to bring this to fruition for our players and provide opportunities for our female athletes. The Girls Mid-Atlantic Division consists of GA clubs Baltimore Celtic, CSA Monmouth, PA Classics, Real JFC, Sporting AC and SJEB FC.
The Girls NAL mirrors the NAL Mid-Atlantic Boys Division which serves as the 2nd tier for MLS Next clubs. A large contingent of MLS NEXT boys youth clubs led the launch of the Boys National Academy League in the Fall of 2023 to provide a national platform for their 2nd tier teams. Founding member clubs on the boys side consist largely of current MLS NEXT member clubs who are not the official academies of Major League Soccer (MLS) organizations.
“We are excited to announce that we will be joining the National Academy League starting in the 24/25 season,” SJEB FC Director Don D’Ambra stated. “The league will provide high level competition that will further enhance the development of our players. We look forward to working with our fellow GA clubs and creating a great club v club game day environment with all 6 of our NAL teams competing at the same venue on the same day.”
Each of the National Academy League’s conferences will feature competition across the U13-U19 age groups. Directors of Coaching within each conference will have the autonomy to make additional sporting decisions. For example, adding additional ages or crafting specific events or formats that enhance their players’ growth opportunities.
Participating clubs will also have the opportunity to attend the NAL competition as part of the IMG Cup College Showcase in December and compete for a National Academy League Championship in June 2024.
SJEB FC will be holding open tryouts for our Girls National Academy League teams in April & May for the 24/25 season. Tryout registration for our 24/25 season teams is open at www.sjebfc.com/tryouts
